Carrboro is dedicated to providing opportunities for safe, decent and affordable housing for all residents, at any income level.

The Affordable Housing Goals & Strategies document guides the Town's work toward creating and preserving housing in Carrboro that is affordable to households earning 80% of the area median income or less. Affordability is defined as spending no more than 30% of household income on housing costs, including utilities.

New Units Added by Year

The Town of Carrboro has a goal to add 85 units for homeownership and 470 rental units, for a combined total of 555 affordable units, by 2024.  As of July 2022, the Town has met 82% of its goal.
