    BALLET FOR FITNESS
    Strength, beauty, grace and elegance are inherent in the elements of ballet.This class uses ballet basics to improve strength, articulation of movement, knowledge of ballet terminology, and introduction to the classical art. We will start with a floor barre, then move to exercises standing in the center, eventually moving across the floor. We will break down the steps and do exercises that build strength, increase flexibility, and provide a foundation that can be applied to all dance styles. No prior dance experience necessary.

    BASKETRY
    This traditional craft class is known for its good company as well as the fine baskets it produces. A new studio format now accommodates the lives of busy basket makers. Studio Fee: Pay $66.00 for any 5 classes. Register before the 1st class of the studio series. No need to designate which studio classes you will attend. If you want to register for more than 5 classes you may do so at any time at a fee of $12.50/class. Additional materials fee to be paid at the first class you attend.

    DAY TRIPS
    Carrboro Recreation and Parks trips are known for their fine company, back road ambling, and interest-piquing destinations. Take advantage of a one-day outing and leave the driving to someone else! All trips are geared for adults. Transportation by van, departing from Carrboro Town Hall and return times are approximate. Please inquire regarding wheelchair accessibility.
    ANTIQUING IN THE SANDHILLS

    Take a stroll down the Sandhills "Antiques Lane" by visiting numerous shops in Cameron.We will also enjoy a fabulous lunch (Dutch treat) at the Carolina Dining Room in the luxurious Pinehurst resort, home of the 2005 and 2007 U.S. Open.

    We are headed right down the road to visit the New American Tobacco Campus in Durham. No longer is it the 1800's tobacco factory, but rather a revitalized place to relax, eat and enjoy the tranquil waterfalls. Lunch will be on your own so please bring money.

    RUDY THEATRE MUSICAL CHRISTMAS SHOW
    This show is guaranteed to get you in the spirit of the holidays. Sing along with traditional Christmas favorites like Silver Bells, White Christmas, and Christmas in Dixie. Laugh until you cry at the antics of our comedian. Remember the reason for the season with our spiritual tribute to Christmas. Loose yourself in our show and let yourself go to a special place in your heart, a place where you will find Christmas.

    The Senior Horseshoe Drop-In Program allows participants the opportunity to play in an informal setting and to meet others of similar sporting interest. Groups are welcomed to attend. Ages 50 and older are welcome.

    GOLDEN TRAILS SERIES
    This adult oriented walking group gets you out and about on local trails. The company of others, the gains from a little physical endeavor and the joys of being in a natural environment are possible rewards. A small fee helps cover accompanying staff costs. Transportation from a central point is offered . Binoculars are always encouraged. Water is always a must bring! As with any exercise, your physician's recommendation for your participation is encouraged. Please feel free to call Dana Hughes at 918-7372 to find out more specific trail difficulty information so that you can make a good choice. Pre-Registration required for all trips.
    HARRIS LAKE
    Join naturalist Kate Finlayson as she leads you on an adventure through a variety of forest habitats, around old farm ponds and along the shores of beautiful Harris Lake. We will search for eagles, osprey and other water birds.Bring water and binoculars if you have them.

    FALL COLORS AT HEMLOCK BULFFS
    Observe the wonderful array of fall colors at Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve. Along the way we will stop at the elevated observation platforms which allow for good treetop-level birding. Be sure to bring a lunch the picnic area. Also, bring binoculars if you like for close up views of the animals and plants we will find.

    BATTLE BRANCH CHAPEL HILL
    Join Naturalist Kate Finlayson and hike the Battle Branch Trail in Chapel Hill. This is a 1.5 mile trail made of natural surface through upland forest area with moderate slopes. Be sure to bring a lunch and if you like binoculars. We should be able to observe lots of winter migrants' including Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, White-throated Sparrow and Junco and if we are lucky the resident Barred Owls.

    The ancient Indian practice of Hatha can help you release tension, stretch and strengthen your body, relax your mind and lift your spirits. Level 1 is for students who are new to yoga or who want a gentle class. Level 2 is designed for continuing students and those who want a more challenging class.     GET INVOLVED
    Much of the vitality of life in Carrboro is due to the active involvement of citizens in the community. Volunteers of all ages regularly share their talents, skills, and ideas by planning or assisting with large events, serving on town advisory boards, or coaching a youth sports team. While some activities require the contribution of many hours others call for only a few hours of time. Not only can you share your talents, you can have fun, make new friends and discover more about your town.
