    DAY TRIPS
    Carrboro Recreation and Parks trips are known for their fine company, back road ambling, and interest-piquing destinations. Take advantage of a one-day outing and leave the driving to someone else! All trips are geared for adults. Transportation by van, departing from Carrboro Town Hall and return times are approximate. Please inquire regarding wheelchair accessibility. Walk In Registration Only
    BARN DINNER THEATER - RING OF FIRE

    CAROLINA INN LUNCH AND SITE SEEING TRIP
    This is a local trip right down the road to the Carolina Inn. Enjoy a wonderful buffet lunch with coffee, soda or tea at the Carolina Crossroads Restaurant and many beautiful sites in the area. Lunch and gratuity is included in the price.

    REYNOLDA GARDENS AND VILLAGE - WINSTON SALEM
    Enjoy a delightful trip to Winston Salem. Our trip will include a visit to the Reynolda Gardens and the Reynolda Village Shops. As we tour the gardens you will have the opportunity to ask questions to the master garderners. Please bring money for lunch.

    BIG BLOOMERS NURSERY
    Let's go visit the one-stop shopping garden store and greenhouse located in central North Carolina. When you visit, expect to find one of the largest selections of perennials, herbs and annuals in the southeast United States. Bring money for lunch.

    GOLDEN TRAILS SERIES
    This adult oriented walking group gets you out and about on local trails. The company of others, the gains from a little physical endeavor and the joys of being in a natural environment are possible rewards. A small fee helps cover accompanying staff costs. Transportation from a central point is offered . Binoculars are always encouraged. Water is always a must bring! As with any exercise, your physician's recommendation for your participation is encouraged. Please feel free to call Dana Hughes at 918-7372 to find out more specific trail difficulty information so that you can make a good choice. Pre-Registration required for all trips(Walk In Only).
    EBENEZER POINT & ALLEN AND SON BBQ
    Ebenezer Point is the best spot in the Triangle to find rare winter birds. We will hike both the Old Oak Trail and the Ebenezer Church Trail and will discover a commanding view of the heart of Jordan Lake. Late migrant ducks are possible to see, as well as loons, grebes and gulls so remember to bring your binoculars and dress warmly. Audubon guide Kate Finlayson will supply a spotting scope as well. We will warm up afterwards at Allen & Son BBQ for lunch, Dutch treat.

    PENNY'S BEND - WILDFLOWER HIKE
    Welcome the spring with a rejuvenating walk through Penny's Bend Nature Preserve. This 84 acre preserve is a peninsula, bounded on three sides by a bend in the Eno River. Penny's Bend is managed by the NC Botanical Gardens and supports rare plant species, a distinctive forest and human sculpted open space. We will look for all the early spring wildflowers, including trout lilies, Bloodroot, and hepatica. Bring a snack and binoculars!

    BIRDS OF SPRING HIKE
    Our Birding outing to Mason Farm with Audubon Guide Kate Finlayson has become a tradition. Many avian travelers will just be back from the tropics and we hope to see colorful indigo buntings, summer tanagers, and prairie warblers. This hike is relatively flat and is estimated at 1.5 miles. Bring your Binoculars!

    Much of the vitality of life in Carrboro is due to the active involvement of citizens in the community. Volunteers of all ages regularly share their talents, skills, and ideas by planning or assisting with large events, serving on town advisory boards, or coaching a youth sports team. While some activities require the contribution of many hours others call for only a few hours of time. Not only can you share your talents, you can have fun, make new friends and discover more about your town.
