Citizens Needed To Serve On Carrboro Local Living Economy Task Force
The Carrboro Board of Aldermen is seeking Carrboro citizens and Carrboro business owners interested in serving on a Local Living Economy Task Force. This task force will investigate and evaluate strategies by which the Town can help foster the development of a sustainable, locally-owned and run economy. This task force will meet once a month for 18 months. Interested persons should contact the Town Clerk’s Office at 918-7309 or at: swilliamson@townofcarrboro.org for application forms. Application deadline: May 2, 2008.
CITIZENS NEEDED TO SERVE ON CARRBORO BOARDS

The Town of Carrboro is seeking applicants for membership on the following advisory boards:

  • Appearance Commission/Neighborhood Preservation District Com.
  • Recreation and Parks Commission (two out-of-town seats)
  • Environmental Advisory Board
  • Arts Committee

WANTED: Suggestions For Carrboro Community Needs For Fiscal Year 2008-09 Beginning July 1

The budget process for reviewing community needs is underway. A public hearing to receive feedback from residents will be held on January 22, 2008. The Town Manager plans to submit a recommended budget to the Board of Aldermen on May 6, 2008. A public hearing to receive comments on the recommended budget will also be held on May 27, 2008.

The Board of Aldermen and the Town Manager welcome feedback from Town residents throughout the budget process. The final budget is planned for adoption on June 17, 2008. Carrboro residents may email written suggestions to the Town Clerk on the Town’s website at swilliamson@townofcarrboro.org

Residents may write or fax in suggestions. You may write to the Town Clerk at 301 West Main Street, Carrboro, N.C. 27510 or fax comments to her at 918-4456.

Shared Ride Transit Services

The Town of Carrboro works with Chapel Hill Transit to provide Shared Ride on-demand transit services to areas of Carrboro that do not have fixed-route bus service.

Two types of Shared Ride services will be provided in Carrboro: Feeder Service and Evening/Sunday Service.

  • Feeder Service, which is provided at no charge between 6:45 am and 6:15 pm on weekdays, provides trips between designated bus stops in the “feeder” zones and the nearest bus route or to another “feeder” zone.
  • Evening/Sunday Service is provided to areas that do not have regular evening, Saturday, and Sunday bus service and requires that users pay with Chapel Hill Transit bus tickets (tickets can be purchased at Carrboro Town Hall and other locations).

Funding for the enhanced transit services are being provided through federal Congestion Mitigation / Air Quality (CMAQ) funds and a 50 percent local match from the Town of Carrboro.
