Many of our youth programs are dependent upon the participation of volunteers as team coaches and leaders. Anyone interested should complete a Volunteer Service Application. These forms are available at the Recreation and Parks offices, 100 North Greensboro Street and also on this web site.

Spectators Welcome...
Throughout the year, you are invited to visit any sports facility and enjoy the games in progress! Admission is free! It is not only a fun outing, it is also a way to get younger children interested in a sport. For more information on leagues and schedules, call 918-7364.

NOTE: The Adult League Player Contract form must be completed and returned to the Athletic Program Supervisor before you are eligible to participate in any adult league game.

    Youth Football

    Participants learn football skills, fundamentals and techniques. Teams practice 2-4 times per week and compete in league games with other area organizations. Practices begin in early August and the season runs through at least mid-October. Weight limits exist for all teams. Birth Certificates are due prior to the first practice.

    Fall Adult Co-Rec Softball

    Registration is accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
    begins Monday, June 4th (8:30am) at the Carrboro Century Center

    Season: League play will begin in late July and will occur on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Hank Anderson Community Park. Play will run through October. Teams will receive 1-2 games per week. The regular-season will be followed by a double-elimination tournament.

    A maximum of 14 teams may be accepted so early registration is encouraged.

    Fall Adult Co-Rec Ultimate Frisbee

    This adult co-ed fall league plays on Monday & Wednesday evenings at Hank Anderson Community Park. Teams will play 1-2 games each week. League play begins in mid-August and continues through mid-November.

    C.L.A.S.S. Soccer

    A class designed to introduce the fundamentals of soccer to the participant and parent. Instructor guides both the child and parent in understanding the skills of passing, dribbling, trapping, and shooting. Parent and child will be encouraged to practice the skills learned at home. Parent participation is a major part of this program.

    Catch the craze that is Volleyball! This class is designed to introduce and work on the fundamentals of volleyball. Instructors guide the participant in understanding the skills of bumping, setting, spiking, and blocking.

    Horseshoe Clinic - Youth/Teen

    Come and learn the basics of horseshoe pitching from experienced National Horseshoe Pitching Association pitchers. Participants will learn the history of the game, various throwing methods and how to keep score. Come out to learn and enjoy this lifelong sport.

    Tuesday and Thursday evenings (7:00p.m. until 10:00p.m.)

    Fee: $3 per participant (Ages 15 & Under must be accompanied by an adult)

    The Carrboro Recreation and Parks Department Drop-In programs allow participants the opportunity to play in an informal setting and to meet others of similar sporting interest . Groups are welcome to attend. Participants should contact the Recreation and Parks Department (918-7364) for specific scheduling information.

    NFL Punt, Pass & Kick Competition

    The NFL Punt, Pass & Kick Competition allows participants to showcase their talents in punting, passing and placekicking with scores based on distance and accuracy. The top finishers of each age group will advance to a Section competition. The top five scores from the pool of Sectional champions will advance to the Team Championship held at Ericcson Stadium, Home of the Carolina Panthers.

    Junior Olympic Skills Competition

    This national program allows you to showcase your athletic abilities in four (4) sports - basketball, soccer, tennis and track & field. Short skill competitions will be held in each sport and top participants have an opportunity to advance to competition at the next level. You may participate in one of all events.     Tennis fundaments are taught with easy to learn progressions that bring fast results with regular practice. Although for beginners, you can also benefit if you've had some previous experience. Movement, rhythm, and being in the moment are emphasized. There will be some time for individual attention. This class is great workout, too. You can practice with other students after/between classes.

    Instructor: Ron Rudin

    For tennis players who have developed all of the 'basic' tennis skills. At the least, you are fairly consistent when hitting medium-paced shots and you can play with some placement and variety. With hitting drills and individual instruction, you will learn to use spin, ball control, and team work. Error detection will help smooth out the rough edges. More advanced players are welcome as well. Students can continue to practice together after/between classes.

By cooperating we help each other learn and find value in pure enjoyment of the game. There will be some individual attention. Learn new possibilities. You may want to practice with other students between classes.

    Improve all aspects of an all-court game. This class is for those who have developed all of the 'basic' skills and can rally consistently. Emphasis will be on playing with variety, quick preparation, feel, and competitive know-how. Individual attention, error correction, and positive support provided. This class features exciting and challenging clinic drill game practice and tools for practice. This is where cooperation and competition meet. Students can play together between classes.
