For a printable version of the General Information.

Alcoholic Beverages:
(Spanish version)

IIf you are planning to serve alcohol during your event, please read and sign the enclosed Century Center Alcoholic Beverage Policy. This policy must be signed and submitted to the Carrboro Recreation and Parks Department before any alcoholic beverages can be served at your event.

Cancellation Policy:

The Carrboro Recreation and Parks Department reserves the right to make cancellations at any time. Cancellation notices will be issued as far in advance as possible. All reservation and damage deposits will be returned in full if the Department initiates cancellation. The Department may cancel a reservation in the case of a natural disaster (severe inclement weather, i.e. hurricanes, ice storms, etc.), to cover a Town emergency, or to carry out an emergency facility repair.

Event sponsors who cancel space must do so in writing at least one month prior to the scheduled event, and the deposit will be refunded minus a $5.00 administrative processing fee. Here are a few easy ways to cancel your event, write "Canceled" across the reservation contract and fax it to 919-918-4476. Or you may write "Canceled" on the reservations contract and mail it to Carrboro Recreation and Parks Department, 100 N. Greensboro Street, Carrboro, NC 27510.

Phone calls cannot be accepted for cancellation of any event.

Catering:

When planning the number of hours that you need to rent a room(s), please include the time to decorate and cleanup. If you are planning an event with a meal, please make arrangements for your group or the caterer to remove all trash and food debris from floor and tables at the conclusion of your event to avoid a clean-up fee (fee not to exceed $100.00). All trash must be placed in the proper trash receptacle in the Center. Please see staff on-duty for assistance. All event sponsors must pay for the entire time that they are using a room. Event sponsors will coordinate directly with the caterer in regards to quantity, cost, and set-up of food. The Event sponsor will pay the caterer for all catering services. A fee of 5% of the room rental cost will be charged for all events in which food is served.

Per the Orange County Health Department, event sponsors can bring in snacks (i.e. cake, chips, cookies, soft drinks, ice cream, juice, etc.) for events or programs, which last no more than two consecutive days. However, event sponsors must ensure the safe handling of all food. The Health Department strongly recommends that all food items be served with food utensils.

Cleanliness/Decorations:
  • Groups using the Center must leave it clean and in the order in which it was found.
  • No decorations shall be attached to the walls, ceiling, or floors without the permission of the Facilities Operations Officer or designee. Decorations must be completely removed immediately following use.
  • Glitter, sparkles, confetti, silly string, cotton candy or any similar items are not permitted without the permission of the Facilities Operations Officer or designee.
  • Open flame lights are prohibited. A protective globe must enclose all candles. Candles should be extinguished and time allowed for hot wax to harden prior to removal to eliminate spillage.
  • Groups should make an effort to use flame retardant decorations.
