    Abrakadoodle Art Classes NEW!

    These cosponsored art classes with Abrakadoodle offer multicultural art education featuring contemporary and master artists and artistic techniques from around the world. Books and music are incorporated into lessons for the Twoosy and Mini Doodlers, creating a multisensory learning experience for each child. Each mixed media class results in a unique finished product ready to be taken home. Three of the eight projects will highlight holidays with each class focused on a different artistic technique. Artistic techniques taught in the other lessons include: wax resist, bull's eye painting, texture rubbing, oil pastels and painting soft edged shapes. A parent/caregiver is asked to participate with Twoosy Doodlers. Parent/caregiver participation with Mini Doodlers is optional. Eight weeks!.

    Babysitting Training

    This babysitting training course offers first aid and safety training, developmental guideline and marketing strategies to obtain babysitting jobs.     This class is a fun introduction to dance focusing on developmental skills using music, movement and make believe. Young dancers experiment with new ways to move their bodies, both directed and freeform with attention to musicality and rhythm. Age-appropriate skills, such as counting, sequential organization, spatial awareness and comparative abstract concepts are woven into the class structure. A typical class will incorporate ballet form, creative play and motor skill enhancement all in a format that is innovative and fun.

    Dance Exploration NEW!

    This class is appropriate for children ages 3 to 10 years old. It introduces students to the structure of a dance class where listening and following directions are very important. Students learn basic ballet steps and begin to develop musicality.     Dance & Technique

    This class introduces the basic steps of Jazz, Ballet and Modern. The class begins with basic stretching and conditioning of the body core, focusing on isolations of body parts and the learning of basic dance steps. We will then proceed with across the floor combinations and explore the dance elements of space and time as well as shapes and levels. Each class will build up to a routine of the basic steps and technique learned throughout the class. No class 4/9.

    This class is a tap and ballet combo class. This is a wonderful blend of two styles of dancing.     Drawing - Intermediate NEW!

    This class is for students who have mastered basic drawing skills and are ready to learn more. Participants will practice creating depth in a drawing, making objects appear 3-D and using 'negative space' to compose a picture. We will draw still life using charcoal, practice contour drawing, and drawing people. Time permitting we will work on subject matter the participants choose ranging from realistic to abstract.     GET INVOLVED
    Much of the vitality of life in Carrboro is due to the active involvement of citizens in the community. Volunteers of all ages regularly share their talents, skills, and ideas by planning or assisting with large events, serving on town advisory boards, or coaching a youth sports team. While some activities require the contribution of many hours others call for only a few hours of time. Not only can you share your talents, you can have fun, make new friends and discover more about your town.
